A Special Meeting of the Sharon Historical Commission and Sharon Historic District Commission was held at 7:30 PM in the Sharon Town offices with Chairperson Shirley Schofield, Vice-Chairperson Gordon Hughes, Member David Martin, Member Robert Young, Member Deborah Pitman, Alternate Brent Gundlah and Alternate Reese Schroeder in attendance.

The meeting was called to order at 7:45 PM.

Minutes

VOTED: (Martin/Young) Unanimously voted to approve the minutes of March 10, 2004 as presented.

Drake’s Barn

Concerns for structural integrity observed during site visit expressed. It was decided that the owners would be contacted about some of the collectibles stored in the barn of interest to the town as well as the outhouse which could be moved to the Historical Society lawn.

VOTED: (Martin/Hughes): Unanimously voted NOT to apply Demolition Delay. Town Building Inspector to be notified.

32 North Main Street

There is a new fence and shed visible from the street that the Commission was not consulted about. The attorney for the owners at 38 North Main Street was quoted as saying that the fence “is not offensive”.  There is also concern that the fence may be over the property line of 38 North Main Street.  It was decided that property lines are not an appropriate issue for the Commission to be concerned. Alt. Schroeder volunteered to begin looking for specific Historic District Guidelines from other communities that could serve as a models for Sharon Guidelines to be shared with the Town Building Inspector  and the community.
